On the Tom’s Guide battery rest, which involves continuous web surfing at 150 nits of screen brightness, the new 15-inch Air averaged 14 hours and 59 minutes. While the laptop didn’t last that long in our testing, it’s still one of the longest-lasting laptops you’ll come across. MacBook Air 15-inch M2 review: Battery life and heatĪpple boasted that the 15-inch MacBook Air has up to 18 hours of battery life. However, keep in mind this configuration is valued at $2,499. How does that compare to a 15-inch Windows laptop? The XPS 15 OLED isn't a dedicated gaming laptop but the 13th gen Intel Core i7-13700H CPU, Nvidia RTX 4070 laptop GPU and 32GB of RAM our review unit packed gave it more than enough power to run Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Civilization VI at high frame rates. Sid Meier’s Civilization VI fared better, clocking in at 43 and 29 fps at those respective resolutions. Shadow of the Tomb Raider reached 26 fps at 1,920 x 1,200 resolution and an even worse 12 fps at 2,880 x 1,864 fps. Our in-house testing showed subpar results for games that don’t make use MetalFX. That said, games optimized for Apple silicon run great on this machine, as was the case when I fired up Resident Evil Village. However, it currently comes up short in the gaming department due to the lack of support from many third-party developers. The MacBook Air 15-inch is ideal for everyday computing and some light photo and video editing. MacBook Air 15-inch M2 review: Graphics and gaming By contrast, the drives in the more expensive 15-inch Air configurations benefit from two NAND chips. ![]() What's causing the discrepancy you can see in the numbers above? The 256GB Air performs worse than the 512GB, 1TB and TB versions because its SSD only has a single NAND chipset. Since we first published our review, testing data from MaxTech has shown the base 256GB version of the 15-inch MacBook Air has considerably slower drive performance than the 512GB model. It achieved a 2,793 MBps read speed and 3,145 MBps write speed. Lastly, we ran the Blackmagic disk speed test to measure the 15-inch MacBook Air’s SSD performance. The laptop not only kept on chugging without missing a beat, but it remained cool to the touch the entire time.īlackMagic SSD test (in MBps) Row 0 - Cell 0 During my testing, I had upwards of 20 open tabs open while running a YouTube video. Thanks to its powerful Apple M2 processor, the MacBook Air 15-inch can handle almost anything you throw at it. MacBook Air 15-inch M2 review: Performance Still, the overall sound quality is improved from the 13-inch Air. Bass sounded punchy but not as powerful as on the MacBook Pro 16-inch 2021. All of those disparate elements came through perfectly. I played Dream Theater’s “Alien” at full volume and was impressed by the overall clarity of the song - which has numerous time signature changes and a flurry of guitar and keyboard solos. Sound-wise, this laptop is almost on par with the latest MacBook Pros - which also feature a 6-speaker sound system. The latter’s 4-speaker sound system was pretty good, but the new laptop’s speakers blow it away. One of the most notable upgrades this laptop has over its 13-inch counterpart is its 6-speaker sound system. With regard to non-HDR brightness, the panel averaged 473 nits of brightness - making it brighter than the XPS 15 OLED (371 nits). These values are a smidge lower than the 13-inch model, which was just one point shy of reaching 500 nits of HDR brightness. When viewing HDR content, the laptop got as high as 479 nits of brightness when displaying HDR content on 10% of the display and 480 nits for 100% of the screen. The MacBook Air’s panel can get fairly bright. Both laptops did better in the Delta-E test compared to the XPS 15 OLED (0.24). ![]() Regarding color accuracy, the 15-inch MacBook Air turned in a Delta-E score of 0.17 (where 0 is best), compared to the 0.22 its 13-inch counterpart delivered.

We have ours set up with a histogram and navigator panel in the left sidebar and adjustment tools in the right sidebar. The Customise (editing) window is more complicated. PhotoLab’s PhotoLibrary window is pretty straightforward, with a folder tree and search field in the left sidebar, histogram and metadata panels on the right and thumbnails in the middle – the interface is actually highly customisable. ![]() Speaking of ‘virtual’, you can create as many virtual copies of an image as you like without duplicating the image file itself on your computer. Other things to note about PhotoLab 5 is that it is a non-destructive editor, so until you export a new, processed version of your photo, your changes are purely ‘virtual’ and visible only inside PhotoLab. PhotoLab 5 is a fully non-destructive editor – here we have one image with four different 'virtual copies', each with a different editing treatment. When you want to edit an image, you switch to the Customise window, where PhotoLab will automatically apply lens corrections based on its inbuilt profiles – or prompt you to download them if you don’t have them yet. These keywords conform to IPTC standards and are visible in other programs too. Specifically, you can apply keywords and search for images with specific keywords too. New in PhotoLab 5, though, is support for EXIF and IPTC metadata. It’s not Lightroom by any means, but for those who like to organize their images with physical folders it’s fine. First, it has an improved PhotoLibrary panel where you can browse your images by folders, carry out basic searches based on image parameters and even create virtual Projects (or albums). ![]() So let’s take a look at what DxO PhotoLab 5 can do from a workflow perspective. The DxO PhotoLibrary is a basic but effective image organizer, now with EXIF, IPTC metadata support and keywords. Both versions will correct lens distortion, chromatic aberration, corner shading and even edge softness automatically, but to get the perspective correction tools we now take for granted in other software for fixing converging verticals, for example, you need to get the DxO ViewPoint add-on, which is more again. What PhotoLab does not have built in is perspective correction tools, even in the Elite edition.
![]() Finally, knot the tail around one of the warp threads and trim the excess thread. Pull tight so that the weft threads are snug against the warp threads. Then, take the tail under the weft threads and back up through the warp threads again. To tie off your loom, start by threading your tail through the last few warp threads. This is a simple process, but it is important to do it correctly so that your project does not come undone. ![]() When you reach the end of your project or the end of your thread, you will need to tie off your loom. Once all your loose ends are woven in, your project is finished and ready to enjoy! How Do You Tie off a Loom? You can either hand-sew them in or use a crochet hook or tapestry needle to weave them in and out of the fabric. Now you will need to weave in all of your loose ends so that they are secure and won’t come undone. Next, cut off any excess yarn that is hanging off of your project. Once all the warp threads are removed, gently pull on both ends of your project until it is completely loose from the loom. To do this, start at one end of the loom and carefully take each thread off of its peg, letting it drop down to the bottom of the loom. The first thing you will need to do is remove all the warp threads from the pegs. Repeat this process until all rows have been removed from the loom. To do this, cut the yarn at one end of the row and use a crochet hook or blunt needle to pull it through all of the stitches on that row. For larger projects, like afghans or blankets, you will need to remove each row of knitting from the loom one at a time. This will release all of the stitches from the loom so that you can finish them off by hand. For small projects like hats or socks, you can simply cut the yarn at one end of the loom and pull it through all of the stitches on the other end. There are a few different ways to do this depending on the type of loom you are using and the project you are working on. This will help relax the edge and make it easier to stretch over your blocking wires or pins.Ĭredit: How Do I Cast off My Loom Knitting? If you find that your e wrap cast off is too tight, simply try using a larger needle for the last few stitches. One thing to keep in mind when using this method is that it can tend to produce a slightly tighter edge than other methods. You’ve now cast off one stitch! Repeat this process until all stitches have been cast off. Then, insert the left-hand needle into the first stitch on the right-hand needle (the one closest to the tip), and lift it over the second stitch and off of the needle. To e wrap cast off, start by knitting two stitches onto your right-hand needle. If you’re looking to add a new stitch to your knitting repertoire, the e wrap cast off is a great option! This method is quick and easy to learn, and produces a nice, clean edge on your work. ![]() The average price per gram of Pineapple Express is $20. ![]() Pineapple Express is a Hybrid-Sativa Dominate strain, which is a combination.
